A public official in Hengyang City, Hunan Province recently accidentally killed a village woman while hunting. Yesterday, the relevant person in charge of the Hengdong County Public Security Bureau in Hunan Province announced that the public official who was suspected of shooting a village woman during a hunting trip on November 9th has been criminally detained. He used a double barreled hunting rifle at the time of the incident and was preliminarily identified as illegally possessing firearms.

On November 9th, Luo Yunying, a 57 year old villager from Yangjiao Village, Gaohu Town, Hengdong County, was shot and killed while picking tea seeds on a nearby mountain. According to the family of the deceased, there were two gunshot wounds, one passed through the left side of the body and the other through the left ear and head.

At noon that day, Xiao Weidong, a law enforcement officer from the catering department of the Zhengxiang branch of the Hengyang Food and Drug Administration, surrendered to the Hengdong County police, claiming to have accidentally injured villagers while hunting, and was later criminally detained.

The person in charge of Xiang Guan of Hengdong County Public Security Bureau said in an interview with Xinhua News Agency that Xiao Weidong, who surrendered himself, used a double barreled hunting rifle for hunting, and the public security department preliminarily determined that he illegally possessed firearms. As for whether the identity of the individuals who used the bus and hunted together is still under further investigation.

Yesterday afternoon, a person in charge of the Zhengxiang Branch of the Hengyang Food and Drug Administration stated that Xiao Weidong's behavior was a private act and the unit was not aware of it.

On the morning of November 9th, Luo Yunying, 57 years old, from Group 2, Yangjiao Village, Gaohu Town, Hengdong County, Hengyang City, Hunan Province, went up the mountain to pick tea seeds at around 8am and never returned home. That afternoon, the family found Luo Yunying dead from gunshot wounds under a tea tree.

The confirmed news shows that Luo Yunying was unfortunately shot and killed by people hunting in the mountains, and one of the suspects is Xiao Weidong, a law enforcement officer from the Catering Department of the Zhengxiang Branch of the Hengyang Food and Drug Administration. Xiao Weidong has voluntarily surrendered to the police station and has been criminally detained by the Hengdong County police on suspicion of manslaughter.

Family members recalled that on November 9th, Luo Yunying dressed in a purple red shirt and black pants went to the nearby tea mountain to pick up tea seeds. For breakfast, she only hurriedly took a few bites of noodles.

She usually goes home for lunch before 12 noon, but she hasn't returned home after lunchtime that day. Dong Changwu, the son of Luo Yunying, told the New Beijing News reporter that the family went up the mountain to search for a person but couldn't find any.

Around 2 pm that day, the village officials received a call from the police asking if any villagers were missing in Yangjiao Village. They found the Dong family and only then did they know that something might have happened.

The police and village officials brought their families to the scene of the crime. Husband Dong Haiyun saw Luo Yunying lying on her side under a tea tree about 5 meters away from the road. The trunk of a tea tree about 2 meters to her right was also pierced by a bullet. The ground was covered in blood, and there were two gunshot wounds on the body, one passing through the left side of the body and two lungs, and the other passing through the left ear and head.
